Shaq's Son Is Cleared And Will Officially Play Basketball At UCLA This Season

One of the most known recruits in the class of 2018 – because of his last name and the fact that he’s a 4-star prospect – is officially joining the UCLA roster. Shareef O’Neal – Shaq’s son – has enrolled at UCLA later this month and join the basketball team in September.

O’Neal committed to UCLA just days after de-committing from Arizona back in February. O’Neal decided to de-commit from the Wildcats because of the FBI investigation and then once the ESPN story broke on Sean Miller allegedly paying Deandre Ayton, he tweeted out that ‘he didn’t want to be involved with that.’ He originally selected Arizona over UCLA, LSU, USC, Kentucky and Georgetown.

Three days after de-committing he joined UCLA and an absolutely loaded recruiting class. The class includes five-star Moses Brown, four-stars O’Neal, Jules Bernard, David Singleton and Tyger Campbell. It’s currently the sixth ranked recruiting class on 247 Sports.

However, there were questions about O’Neal’s eligibility as he never signed a letter of intent. The reason was he needed to get some of his academics squared away and now with his signing those seem to be put to rest. O’Neal averaged over 27 points per game last year as a senior at Crossroads School. O’Neal, is a 6’10?, 205 lb forward who mimics his dad in the sense of being a good athlete, elite dunker and great shot blocker.  He moves well and should be getting up and down the court quickly.
